Swifties Theorize That Taylor Swift Played the Last Character You’d Expect in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

Hardly a minute goes by in Happy Gilmore 2 without a celebrity randomly showing up for a cameo — from Eminem to Guy Fieri to Margaret Qualley to Post Malone to a ton of real-life pro golfers who presumably never fought any elderly game show hosts during tournaments. 

One of the biggest stars to appear in the sequel (other than Jon Lovitz, of course) is three-time Super Bowl champion/zero-time reading champion Travis Kelce, who was one of the earliest cameos to be confirmed by Adam Sandler. 

But is it also possible that Kelce’s superstar girlfriend was also in the movie, and most of us just didn’t notice? 

Now that Happy Gilmore 2 is out, we know that Kelce plays a dickish golf club restaurant server who fires Bad Bunny’s busboy character, Oscar, thus paving the way for him to become Happy’s new caddy. 

Kelce's most memorable scene comes when Happy asks Oscar to go to his “happy place,” which looks a lot like Gimore’s — except in Oscar’s imaginary paradise, Kelce’s character is half-naked and tied to an antique lamp post. Oscar then proceeds to slather the captive server’s face and bare chest and face with honey, before prompting a giant grizzly bear to devour him. 

Taylor Swift, who you may or may not have heard is dating Kelce, recently promoted Happy Gilmore 2 on Instagram, either because she wants to support her boyfriend’s first movie, or because she’s just a big John Daly fan.

Per The Daily Mail, Swifties began to suspect that the singer might have a stealth cameo in the sequel after Netflix posted a behind-the-scenes video showing how Kelce’s imaginary death scene was filmed. It turns out that the bear wasn’t entirely CGI, there was an actual performer in a bear costume on set, which prompted some to theorize that it was Swift playing the bear.

“Why do I feel like Taylor was in the bear suit!!?” one fan asked. 

“Dying to know — is it @taylorswift in the bear costume?? I hope so!” another chimed in. 

“Does anyone else think, quite possibly, our Queen played the bear in Happy Gilmore 2?” a fan account questioned. “I mean it WAS rumored she was in it!”

Shockingly, it seems as though one of the most famous and successful people on the planet didn’t travel to New Jersey to wear a cumbersome, Late Night with Conan O'Brien-esque bear costume for a Netflix original movie. Happy Madison producer Eli Thomas was supposedly the one in the bear costume, judging from crew photos that have been shared online. Although Thomas did cheekily tag Swift in an Instagram post featuring a  snapshot of him wearing the bear suit with Kelce. 

That was definitely Taylor Swift in The Revenant, though.
