15 Sitcoms That Proved They Have Dramatic Chops

These sitcoms, we tell ya! They already had our devotion with the jokes, then they go and drop the feels on us?! Great, now these characters have cemented themselves in our hearts forever. Even if the quality starts wombling a little by the end, we can always look back on those heart-wrenching moments. They could’ve weirded us right out, because let’s face it, a lot of comedic actors don’t have drama in their tool belt. But these shows… They nailed it.
When a funny show masterfully tackles grief, abuse, or even just heartfelt, “real” moments, we subconsciously realize how much we love the characters. We’ve invested serious time in their lives, and we genuinely care that they’re going through something. The funny had to be at the forefront though, since if the pilot opened on a dramatic moment, we might question if the show is even a comedy. But they dipped from the funny for a few powerful moments, and somehow seamlessly got right back to the funny. So cheers to these 15 sitcoms that completely nailed the drama.
