15 Parody Films With Legitimately Badass Moments

There’s an uneasy feeling we get when sitting down with a parody. The margin between roll-on-the-floor howl fest and out-of-touch awfulness is wide, and there’s really no in-between. We don’t have the batting average stats for good parodies on us, but we’re just gonna ignore the awful parodies, and focus on the downright bad-ass! From some 80s classics to the parody boom of the early 2000s, the lengths (and budgets) these films went to for a laugh is astounding. 

We’ve got planes crash-landing, nuclear warheads, and a Vietnamese jungle getting lit the fuck up, and it’s all for the laughs. Comedies never get their due at the Oscars, so maybe this is their avenue into what industry gatekeepers would call “legitimate” film making. It’s a comedy’s way of saying, “Hey, we can do what all you dramatic, thrilling, action packed movies can do too! We just happen to like a ton of laughs along the way!” Today we let the completely bad-ass moments in these 15 parodies speak for themselves.

DON'T BE A MENACE CRACKED.COM Parodying the wave of 90s L.A gang movies, Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood jokingly depicts an arms race that escalates to Loc Dog (Marlon Wayans) cracking open a delivery truck to flash his nuclear warhead.

A legitimately terrifying parody. SHAUN OF THE DEAD CRACKED.COM Surrounded by zombies, David gets dragged out of the window and is gruesomely (but somehow still hilariously) disemboweled and dismembered.

Frank Drebin commandeers a student driver's car. THE NAKED GUN CRACKED.COM This scene puts a student driver and instructor in the middle of a high speed chase and shootout. The instructor hilariously instructs the teen to flip off a truck driver.

A bad-ass movie needs a bad-ass parody. HOT SHOTS CRACKED.COM Parodying Top Gun, this scene has a pilot scrambling on top of a fighter jet, trying desperately to save his partner. Не tries physically holding the wing onto the plane, before it ultimately crashes.

A Matrix parody AND a slasher parody in one. SCARY MOVIE CRACKED.COM Cindy (Anna Faris) and the killer duke it out in a Matrix-style slo-mo final showdown that tears the living room to shreds. It parodies the horror trope that the teen girl can physically best the villain, and we get an Irish jig while Cindy is paused mid-air.

We can still hear Will Ferrell's screams. AUSTIN POWERS CRACKED.COM Being a 007 parody, Austin Powers has more epic scenes than Dr. Evil killing Mustafa (Will Ferrell). But those drawn out screams for help perfectly blend the bad-assery and the hilarity.
