Deep down, even the biggest of ‘fraidy cats understand that movies aren’t real. The monsters captured in the celluloid of a movie can't escape and cant physically get you. The worst that they can maybe do is influence your nightmares when you go to sleep at night. Still, when youre in a dark room with only the light of a TV, spooky movies can still scare the bejeezus out of you. Thats thanks to the work of countless people on any given production: screenwriters coming up with a spooky story; directors telling that story with a pacing that creates tension and intrigue; and special-effects artists who make some of the most horrifying ideas come to life.
