And speaking of the Eiffel Tower, did you know that it was originally intended to be a temporary structure? It was only meant to stand for twenty years, but it proved so popular that it was eventually granted permanent status.

If you're looking for more fun facts, did you know that the Mona Lisa is believed to be the world's most expensive painting? It was sold by its owner, Francesco I de'Medici, in 1516 for four thousand gold florins. Today, it's valued at over seven hundred million dollars. And while we're on the subject of art, did you know that the last supper was actually painted upside down? Leonardo da Vinci supposedly did this so that the painting would look correct when viewed from below.
