Every day, all around the world, strange and baffling things happen. But it's not every day that those strange things make headline news. It's always strange to read about the weird things that happen in your hometown or the town where you grew up. You think you know all there is to know about it, and then you hear about some wacky event that totally took you by surprise. It's even stranger when these events make the local news.

Here in our little corner of the world, though, bizarre news abounds. Sometimes it seems like anything and everything can happen here – and just when you think you've seen it all, something even stranger comes along. WEIRD WORLD Palm Springs residents are complaining about the placement of a Marilyn Monroe statue. The director of the Palm Springs Art Museum, which will face the statue's back, said it'd be highly offensive for visitors to walk out and see Marilyn's huge underwear. CRACKED.COM

WEIRD WORLD In a fit of teenage rebellion a kid in Alcante, Spain, built an underground den. He started building it six years ago as a way to cool off after a fight with his parents, and just kept building it now it includes a sitting room and a bedroom. CRACKED.COM

WEIRD WORLD An artist hung a replica of Napoleon's horse's skeleton over the tomb of L'Empereur. The artwork, created for an exhibition marking the bicentennial of Napoleon's death, was heavily criticized as a grotesque and disrespectful idea. CRACKED.COM

WEIRD WORLD In Miami Beach, a TV crew doing a report on crime were themselves attacked. They were doing a story about a policy meant to curb crime, when a fight broke out near them -- and some of the people involved knocked down their camera. CRACKED.COM

WEIRD WORLD Bad plant employee hygiene was partly why millions of vaccine doses got ruined.
