When we first read a random batch of movie facts, we start thinking about how much money it will take to bring them to life. There are incredibly expensive facts like, “The director of Rango had the actors perform the entire thing in person to more realistically capture their movements.” We’ll try to make that fact for as cheap as possible, because it’s too good to fully omit. 

We just hope the Cracked higher-ups don’t rip our heads off when we submit our expense report.

The Oscars

A bear almost got an Oscar nomination. Bart the Bear was in several high- profile movies, including 1988's The Bear. This French movie was such a worldwide hit, there was a campaign to nominate Bart for an Oscar. Unfortunately, the Academy put the kibosh on it, stating that animals weren't eligible. CRACKED.COM

Jerry Maguire

Jerry Maguire basically charged Reebok for insulting them. Reebok paid $1.5 million for Jerry Maguire to include an ad featuring Cuba Gooding Jr.'s Rod Tidwell. But the ad was cut for some reason, with the only reference to the brand being now Tidwell's F-k Reebok. GRACKED.COM

Star Wars

CRACKED.COM The studio forced movie theaters to screen Star Wars. Fox had no faith at all in that silly movie about space puppets, so they told theaters that they had to screen it if they wanted The Other Side of Midnight, which was expected to be a big success. ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST THE ACTORS LIVED IN THE PSYCHIATRIC WARD DURING SHOOTING. All of the actors who played patients actually stayed in the sleep quarters at the Oregon State Hospital, to get a sense of what it was like to be hospitalized. CRACKED.COM

CRACKED.COM PAN'S LABYRINTH FLAMES AND SPARKS WERE DIGITAL TO PREVENT FIRES. Because of a drought in the film's shooting location of Segovia, Spain, the timber was dry enough to risk a blazing fire. For this reason, most sparks and fire were added in post and green moss was used to cover the brown, dead vegetation.

Rango

CRACKED.COM RANGO THE MOVIE WAS SHOT IN LIVE ACTION FIRST. In order to get more natural performances and body language in the animation, Gore Verbinski had the actors perform in person to capture their movements.

Do the Right Thing

Made DO THE RIGHT THING SPIKE LEE WROTE THE SCREENPLAY IN TWO WEEKS. I'd wake up in the morning and write for three or four hours, then I'd quit, carry on with the rest of the day, and come back the next morning. The movie was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. CRACKED.COM

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE THE MOVIE WAS INSPIRED BY ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER (BUT NOT IN A GOOD WAY). Screenwriter Michael Arndt read an article about Schwarzenegger telling high school students, If there's one thing ... that I hate, it's losers. BEHIND-THE-SCENES FACTS ROCK MUSIC HELPED FINANCE THE MOVIE THE HOLY GRAIL CRACKED.COM The movie managed to get made thanks to the financial backing of rock bands like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, and several record labels. Pink Floyd bandmates used the proceeds from their hit album Dark Side of the Moon to help finance the film.
