No One Should Feel Bad About Laughing at Mitch McConnell’s Most Recent Fall
Today, Senator Mitch McConnell tripped and fell over nothing while being asked by reporters about the mass terror ICE is inflicting on the country.
Video of the incident quickly went viral. If it was a video of any other senior falling down, maybe people would have at least paused before unleashing a litany of jokes at the Republican Senator’s expense. But McConnell has a long history of being an absolute terror to the American public. He’s done everything from blocking President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court pick to creating “legislative graveyards” so that bills don’t get passed.
The largest union in the country, AFL-CIO, literally has an article on their site called “11 Reasons Why Mitch McConnell Is One of the Worst Candidates for Working Families” from back in 2014. More recently, in March 2025, an op-ed was published in The Hill titled “Mitch McConnell Has Made Our Country Worse.”
Don't Miss
So alas, there were quite a few jokes like this:
There was also a deleted post from comedian Jaboukie Young-White. He claims he was hacked. Whoever wrote and posted it, though, really, really let loose.
But this apathy about an old man slipping on the floor in front of everyone isn’t only prompting a slew of comedians and other internet users to deliver their best material, it perfectly demonstrates the result of living in a fascist gerontocracy. Spending several decades singularly dedicated to making the lives of most Americans markedly worse has two effects on the general public: 1) People will passionately hate you; and 2) they will laugh as your body fails you.
The guy, all other things being equal, should at the very least no longer be a senator at the age of 83. We’re 10 to 15 years past the retirement age.
And if that man was retired, he wouldn’t be eating shit while trying to walk unassisted in front of the media in the U.S. Capitol. He also wouldn’t be accused of faking the fall in order to avoid tough questions about ICE kidnapping and separating families all over the country.
