People who say movies are escapist have clearly never seen Ice Age. Humans literally couldn’t live in that era — why would we want to escape there! In fact, a lot of great movies kind of seem like a nightmare. Uncut Gems looks stressful. The Princess Bride had those giant, man-eating rodents running around. A Streetcar Named Desire looks sweaty.
