20 Roles That Effectively Ended an Actor’s Career

As an actor, you’re often only as good as your last — or next — job. Unless you’ve landed yourself a gig in a franchise, talking to a tennis ball in front of a green screen for $60 million just like you dreamed about in acting class, you’re probably living paycheck to paycheck. Granted, they can be pretty big paychecks, but mansions have mortgages, too.

That might lead some actors to take any job they can get — hell, Nicolas Cage made a whole career out of it — but they have to be careful, too. One bad role can get them cast out of casting offices for life. It might not even be their fault — they might be the best part of a terrible movie — but the damage is the same.

That’s why user sheerduckinghubris asked r/AskReddit, “What movies or shows utterly ruined an actor's reputation?”
