Calling a kayak ‘un-rollable’ is a great way to roll a kayak
14 Celebrities Who Had a Worse Vacation Than You Did

Imagine you’re trying to commute to work, and suddenly George Clooney is sprawled out on the road in front of you, screaming at you for messing up his scooter.

Amy Schumer

She was a big surfer as a teen, and once slashed her leg open on her board while all alone in the ocean: “I skegged myself. My whole fin went into my leg, and I had to yank it out. I was by myself.”

Theo Campbell

The Love Island star got popped in the eye by a champagne cork in Ibiza: “I’ve lost all vision in my right eye as it got split in half, who would have thought a champagne cork would be the end of me.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton

The Duke and Duchess almost died like true royals: in a squall, in a country that didn’t want them. They were flying to Pakistan, but were caught in such a bad storm that they were turned away from the Pakistani Royal Air Force base and had to fly back to Lahore. They experienced “extreme turbulence," which is exactly what you picture when you think of a horrifying plane crash in a movie, but they played it off saying it merely knocked over Prince William’s gin and tonic.

Demi Lovato

She can’t stop wrecking her ankles. In 2013, she bruised her fibula slipping on a newly-polished floor in her apartment (although she continued her tour on crutches and wearing a bedazzled cast). Then in 2018, she fractured her foot while walking down the stairs on a vacation in Bali.

Kate Moss

While she was on vacation in 2000, thieves broke into her home and made off with $350,000 worth of jewelry, including a $28,000 diamond necklace from her ex, Johnny Depp.

Hilary Duff

TMZ speculated that her vacation Instagram posts tipped off burglars, who busted into her house without tripping any alarms, making off with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.

Reese Witherspoon

She broke the laws of physics to dunk her and her son into glacial waters. While kayaking in Canada, she was told by guides that “there’s no way you can roll this kayak because it is literally un-rollable.” It was not.

Myles Stephenson

The R&B singer (and I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! contestant) had a crazy snowboarding accident in Andorra that left him with broken ribs, a ruptured spleen and plenty of internal bleeding. He dropped an update online when they managed to curtail the hemorrhaging: “That has stopped now, so I’m just chilling here on ICU — it’s like a five-star ICU — it’s amazing.”

George Clooney

He was tooling around Sardinia on a scooter when he was hit by a car and sent flying off his machine into the road. He was hospitalized and later told a friend it was “good to be alive.”

Bella Thorne and Bella Hadid

In 2015, the two were supposed to fly from JFK to Heathrow, but the plane’s wing clipped a fence during takeoff. Thorne glossed over the whole plane crash thing, and blasted Virgin on Twitter: “It is literally the worst customer service in the history of service.”

Amanda Holden

The Britain’s Got Talent judge was on kind of an inflatable Ninja Warrior-type course in Cyprus when she slipped off into the damn ocean, messing up her leg so badly that she needed a metal plate and several weeks in a scooter.

Zac Efron

Efron was almost crushed by a bus while on an early morning bike ride with Hugh Jackman in London: “I followed Hugh around a few cars, and suddenly there was a double-decker bus right in front of me. I slammed on the brakes, went under the front tire and narrowly missed death.”

Matt Damon

His luggage was lost, which happens to the best of us, but his trip was probably more high-stakes than yours. He had to borrow his buddy’s suit for an appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Travis Barker

It was technically a work trip, but we’ll count it. Barker was supposed to fly from a show in South Carolina back to California, but his small jet crashed catastrophically during takeoff. He and one other passenger survived, but four others died. Despite his injuries and PTSD, he was back to work within two months.
