Exclusive ‘Taskmaster’ Preview Clip: Making Skittles Skitter

The last time we checked in on the current 19th season of Taskmaster, American contestant Jason Mantzoukas was goofing on the word “fanny.” In America, it’s a euphemism for “butt” so tame that your grandma may have, at some point, fondly told you to move yours, whereas in the U.K., it refers to a different part of the anatomy a woman traditionally covers with a bikini bottom. Of course a rascal as roguish as Mantzoukas would use it as the basis for a prize task gag.

Regional linguistic quirks are, once again, at play in tonight’s eighth episode, as when Mantzoukas and his fellow contestants are required to “obey the autocue” (or, as we know it on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, the teleprompter), and when they’re ordered to “knock over all 10 skittles in 10 minutes” (which is what Britons call bowling pins). But the signature Mantzoukas move we see here isn’t to bicker about the “correct” vocabulary: It’s to take an opportunity to wreak havoc — up to and including permanent and irremediable property damage.

And, for once, he’s not the only one.
