It was the promotional still that launched 1,000 tweets. On Tuesday, Lady Gaga absolutely decimated the internet once again, posting a very '80s snap of her and co-star, Adam Driver (a.k.a Star Wars' resident emo boy, Kylo Ren), on the set of their upcoming film, House of Gucci directed by Ridley Scott. Based on a 2001 biography entitled The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, Gaga and Driver respectively star as Patrizia Reggiani and her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci, the former head of his family's eponymous fashion house, who was assassinated in 1995 in a murder-for-hire plot. Approximately three years later in 1998, Reggiani was convicted for coordinating the hit on her former partner and was sentenced to 29 years in prison, according to CNN.

In the long tradition of the internet being the internet, netizens across the Twitter-sphere had several opinions about what the very alpine snap looked like. Aside from photoshopping the dup on a variety of Star Wars locales ...

... and noting the striking resemblance between Driver and a sweater-clad Chris Evans in Knives Out ...

the internet had a field day, comparing the duo to Megachurch leaders ...

... wealthy scholars ...

... star-crossed lovers ...

... avant-garde artists on the cover of their Christmas album ...

...  judgy relatives ...

... Glenn Close Cruella De Vil Cosplayers ...

... Putin's Goons ...

... that one, erm, very forward couple you meet at a bar ...

... and basically anything and everything except for Adam Driver and Lady Gaga. Movie magic, folks!

So whether you think they resemble supervillains or swingers, there's one thing we know for sure -- Gaga and Driver look expensive as hell.
