Architectural wonders are what breathe life into the city, even when all efforts seem to be against them. Historical landmarks have many important buildings that were part of history, or just really cool houses you thought you could only see in the movies. But everything must go at some point, and lots of these buildings weren't built to last for centuries.
Whether they were hit during a war or they are just very poorly maintained, cities might take them down and build something else in their place. And that something else is going to be the dullest building you'll see, with either white walls or pure glass windows. And it's going to suck, especially when you see before-and-after pictures of the place. What once represented the identity of a place is now just another office building.
So, to suffer a little, here are some before and after architecture where all was ruined and there was nothing you could do about it.
