Character Redesigns That Made Little to No Sense
Brands are constantly thinking of new ways to engage with their audience because the competition is fierce, and any competitor could be waiting for them to make a mistake to take advantage of the situation. It happened lots of times, and it will happen again. And redesigning their logo or their mascot is something many see as a sign of a fresh start into something better. That's also the case with fictional characters whose story ended, but that's so popular that they should keep earning money forever.
The thing is, not all redesigns are great. Of course, people used to a character will react negatively to a change at first, but sometimes, the changes are so bad that the brand deserves to lose a couple of clients. Some redesigns overstayed their welcome, and others are still around, but most of them are nothing but bad memories you can hardly find on the internet.
Here are some character redesigns that made little to no sense.
Bananas in Pyjamas

It's just not the same if there aren't two guys inside big costumes.
Power Rangers' Alpha 5

It kept its iconic catchphrase, but even with Bill Hader's voice, the movie design was weird.
Pikachu

Pokemon creators didn't expect Pikachu to become the franchise's mascot, but once he did, they changed it into a cuter creature.
Dragon Ball's Piccolo

Live-action adaptations have tons of examples of awful redesigns.
Ms. Frizzle

Although it's not the same character, the new Ms. Frizzle has lost all of her frizzle.
Loonatics Unleashed

Someone thought superhero Looney Tunes was a good idea.
Punchy

Hawaiian Punch's mascot was wearing a hat all this time!?
Deadpool

Another victim of edgy live-action movies that are afraid of colorful costumes.
Bomberman

The grittiest reboot in an era full of gritty reboots.
Bob the Builder

No charisma, big machinery instead of tools, no unique identity whatsoever.
Ben 10

Getting younger with each reboot.
Alvin and the Chipmunks

Are they human now?
Toys R Us

What happened in 2001, and why did that last for so long? 2007's is also pretty lame.
Shrek 5

The new Shrek design looks uncanny.
Barney

Let's just hope it wasn't made with AI.
Thundercats Roar

Not what Thundercats was all about.
Sonic the Hedgehog

The king of bad redesigns.
Toucan Sam

He had too many redesigns for a cereal box character.
Skeletor

The New Adventures of He-Man was so wrong in so many ways.
Pringles

Devoid of personality.
