15 Horrifying Episodes Of Classic Comedies

Have you ever been watching a classic comedy and all of a sudden found yourself shocked or disturbed by an inexplicable scene or joke? If so, you're not alone. Many classic comedies contain scenes that are horrifying, cringe-worthy, or just plain weird. Comedies can pull off drama very effectively by pulling the rug out from the audience, who aren't expecting their feel-good sitcom to veer suddenly into issues on sexual assault, child abuse, and occasionally the entire cast being killed.

We all know and love the classic comedies that have been around for decades. However, some of these comedies contain horrifying episodes that can't be explained. In this article, we'll take a look at such episodes from classic comedies. We'll try to understand why these scenes were included in the films and what purpose they serve. Here are some of the most inexplicable episodes in classic comedies. Stay tuned for a spooky good time! Enjoy! (or not...)

COMEDY NERD CRACKED.COM BLACKADDER THE CHARACTERS WE LOVE MEET THEIR END The show somehow managed to be funny despite the wartime setting, but the backdrop of WWI catches up to the crew at its final moments. Ordered to climb out of the trenches and charge the enemy, Blackadder and his group know this will be the end, and no clever plan will save them now. The cavalry charges in slow motion, and we fade to a shot of modern day, the old trenches now a peaceful field of poppies, and the men long forgotten.

COMEDY NERD CRACKED.COM SEINFELD ELAINE IS STALKED AND ALMOST HELD CAPTIVE K SI The season four episode is a payoff to the building of the secondary character, Crazy Joe Davola, an unstable and violent presence in the lives of the cast. Elaine isn't aware that the Joey she is seeing is the same person that has been threatening and assaulting her male friends, even after she views a wall in his apartment that is covered in voyeuristic photos of her. Davola corners Elaine, telling her she isn't leaving, and he ends up with an eyeful of Binaca (cherry flavored, naturally).

COMEDY NERD CRACKED.COM THE SIMPSONS MAUDE FLANDERS IS KILLED OFF Maude dies in a sudden, unceremonial, and off putting t-shirt cannon mishap in the 11th season of the show. Although the show was built on cartoon violence like casual child abuse, the violent, undeserving end to the wife and mother was a confusing take. Unlike the not-actually-Skinner Armin Tamzarian, the show doesn't go back on the decision, and Maude was never seen again (except in flashbacks).
