Like it or not, Saturday Night Live has been a comedy institution for over 30 years and shows no sign of stopping. It has created an impact that has effected so many careers, for better or worse. Name a comedic actor or musical group, SNL probably had something to do with it, even if it was rejection.

So many great comedians like Pee-Wee Herman, Stephen Colbert, and Tiffany Haddish famously didn't get cast on the show, but ended up with great careers. Then there are former cast members who describe the experience of working on SNL like they were traumatized war veterans. There have also been several sketches and characters that have caused controversy or boosted the profile of now-Hollywood-level writers.

Love it, hate it, Saturday Night Live still needs to be in the conversation about modern comedy. Here is what celebrities, former cast members, writers, and fans have said about SNL.
