What it Looked Like to Be a Kid on a Minibike in the ’60s and ’70s
Riding a minibike in the 1960s and 1970s was synonymous with adventure, freedom, and living life without constraints. Minibikes were noisy, picked up speed, and were a useful way to get around streets and dirt roads.
Minibikes offered the opportunity to learn to ride a small vehicle and gain independence. Back then, children and adults didn't usually wear helmets or protective gear; safety depended on oneself and adult supervision.
In the 1960s and 1970s, minibike races, jumps, and stunts were common as a form of entertainment and a way to enjoy a unique moment between father and son or among friends. Neighborhoods and streets were places where kids gathered to compete, chat, and show off their minibikes.
