The actor formerly known as Rob McElhenney has broken his silence on his newly-minted moniker. The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star took to social media on Tuesday evening with an explanation for why he shortened his name to “Rob Mac,” citing time and energy for fueling his decision.
“The amount of time that I have wasted trying to get people to either say or spell my name correctly is literally days of my life,” he told fans during the minute-long clip, claiming that he’d “added it up.” “More importantly, it means thousands of you have had minutes of your lives stolen by me because of my last name, including this one.”
Trey Parker and Matt Stone also logged on to set the record straight. In posts shared to the show’s social media accounts on Wednesday morning, the South Park creators commented on the series’ delayed 27th season, blaming their corporate overlords for the now July 23rd premiere date. “This (Paramount-Skydance) merger is a shit show and it’s fucking up South Park,” read the statement posted to South Park’s Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts. “We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.”
Unlike the newest season of South Park, you don’t have to wait any longer to enjoy today’s funniest tweets, the best of which involve targeted Instagram Stories, a Mormon bathroom sign and the first rule of manhood.
