‘It’s because she can’t walk!’
30 of the Wildest Times People Thought ‘Well…Time to Be a Jerk’

Sometimes, being a jerk is the right thing to do.

One Redditor embodied this mantra by telling off a particularly touchy old lady who kept trying to grab the toddler she was babysitting. Despite the woman being asked to please stop touching the child, she not only refused, but pinched the baby’s cheeks and attempted to unstrap the child from the shopping cart.

“I go into full asshole mode, shove the lady away from my charge and start laying into her,” she recalled. “She’s mortified as I’m screaming at her.”

Other Redditors have also rightfully decided to take the low road, and shared their best big-jerk moments, which include throwing drinks at hitchhikers, brutally roasting line-cutters and literally putting a spotlight on bad theater etiquette.

Somgr81 8y ago My assistant manager forgot to interview me for a promotion. Two weeks later she left me a frantic voicemail asking me to come in early because we were short-handed and a regional manager was coming in for an inspection. I went to the gym instead. 3.1K ... 8y ago Did you tell her you forgot to check your voicemails? 1.1K ...
howispellit 8y ago My mom died about six years ago and my sister works as a cashier in a convenience store. Around mother's day she gets a lot of people politely asking what her plans for Mother's day is, and she always replies something vague like, Oh, not much. or Something small with the family which gets her by. This one lady did not find this a good enough answer and started to lecture her about how that wasn't good enough and we should treat our mother right as my sister is scanning and bagging her items. When she's finished
LSU sloSRT4 8y ago Going through security at St. Thomas to get back on the cruise ship. My mom is a paraplegic from a car accident and in a motorized wheelchair and just had the security guard wave the wand over her and a old lady in a jazzy says behind us why doesn't she have to get up? I glared with such intensity I would've became Scott Summers and yelled at her, its because she can't walk! Her family was rightfully visually embarrassed from the ignorance of their grandmother - 1.6K ...
AggressivelyNice 8y ago A friend of mine was verbally abusing her boyfriend right in front of me and my wife. It was making both of us extremely uncomfortable so I said Rachel (not her real name) you're being a huge bitch right now. And she had the audacity to tell me to mind my own business. Like, Rachel, if you're gonna stand in the fucking kitchen in front of other people and say this shit, it's not your own business anymore. You MADE it my business by doing it in front of me. Go berate your boyfriend in your bedroom
Aedan2016 8y ago One of my female friends is incredibly sweet (she was one of my roommates at the time). Yet, she had this super douche bag of a boyfriend. Не mooched off her, treated her like shit, and abused our house for his own purposes. A buddy and I were at the bar and we see him with another girl. They are clearly together. I take a photo of them kissing and I show it to her. She doesn't even confront him about it. Same thing happens the next week, but hes with a new girl. When I saw
ravensray5227 8y ago At work one day we got a delivery of approximately 30 cubic feet of boxes. I work the night shift and these boxes were sitting outside the store in an impending rainstorm. I started taking them into the store while my co-workers watched. There was a family outside and the husband was trying to open one of the boxes. I politely said please don't open the boxes, we haven't gotten them checked in yet. I can show you what's in them in a few minutes in the store. Proceeded to take the box in question in so
Coldfreeze-Zero 8y ago I work in a boating supply store and we make custom rope to attach the boat to the peer. (The loop part, we call it splitsen) This is hand work and takes like 5 minutes for one side. Guy comes in and wants it to be done as professional as possible and he wanted 8 loops. I tell him that that is gonna cost him 5 euros extra because of the time | need and he loses it. Не tells me that it is easy and I shouldn't ask for extra to pocket for myself. I tell
8y ago So I work as a nanny. If go out to lets say target with the kiddos old ladies love to COO over them. The babies are adorable so this is usually fine, normally they just tell me how cute my kids are (even though they aren't mine) and continue on their way. Occasionally they try to get touchy which I don't allow. I tell politely but firmly not to touch the babies. Most women are understandable, some give me scowl then walk away. On one occasion was at target (yeah I love that place) with a 14
Jthedude17 8y ago My cousin and best friend had a really bad problem with drunk driving a couple years ago. He'd get absolutely wasted, and at 1 or 2 am when no one was paying attention, he'd quietly sneak off to his car and drive home. We have a good group of friends who all worked together to get it to stop, but no amount of work, pleading and/or reasoning ever sinks into the brain of an alcoholic (or borderline alcoholic). I don't think the guy wanted to, but he just seemed to lose any sense of reason and thinking
spacialHistorian 8y ago On line at dunkin donuts to grab coffee before heading to class. Some guy tries to cut in front of me and like three other people and says, really condescending I have a job I need to get to. replied Obviously not a good one. and didn't move. - 2.6K ...
GhostofErik 8y ago Wells Fargo is a shitty bank. When I signed up, they told me there would be no service charge as long as I had an automatic transfer of at least $25 to my savings account every month, and did 10 debit transactions every month. Easy. They started charging me fees and every time I deposited my check I was told something different. I went in to cancel my account and the guy kept pushing me to keep my account. Said I could avoid charges with automatic bill transfers like electricity, insurance and others. This was when I
Eyeliveforthatenergy 8y ago Oooooh I've been waiting for this one... A little background to start. About 10 years ago lost my eye in a thermal/chemical burn incident, as such I've drawn some attention. Either from the remaining husk being not too attractive, or at the time of the story, an eye patch draws a lot of attention too. Onto the story: I was working at Outback in my hometown, middle of the evening dinner rush, and this lady walks in asking for a table for one. I was a host at the time and walked her over to one of
skippythesailor 8y ago I live in Brooklyn now but was commuting to my current job from Long Island for a few months, and the highway exit I had to get off in at Queens was often backed up pretty good in rush hour so that a line would form in the lane, often a Quarter of a mile or more of cars- and it would be a 5-10 minute wait until you can get off the exit (NY rush hour for you). Now part of the reason why this wait was so long is people would go into the left
Rearranger_ 8y ago have a 'thing' about people acting like victims to get their way. and by 'thing', I mean absolute disgust. As a cashier in a pizza restaurant right in the middle of three nightclubs, I've seen some shit on the graveyard shift. Luckily only metaphorically. I've had people spit at me, I've had to deal with angry drunks, people feeling entitled to free pizza, and awkward attempts at flirting. But the only time I really went off on someone, was when this chinese dude unsuccessfully tried to pick up some girl in my store. I didn't hear what
TyrOhNoSheBettaDont 8y ago When I was living in London, I had to take the Tube (Underground) during rush hour in Central London. At every station an attendant will say 'This is X Station, please allow all passengers off the train before attempting to board.' or something along those lines. On this particular day, a school group of about 20 kids, all under 10, were trying to get off at a busy station with their teachers. I was stood by the doors as there were no seats. The doors open and immediately these suits all attempt to barge on the train
SatBurner 8y ago When my wife was in labor with my oldest we had a Doula. At one point my presence in the room seemed to be more of a hindrance than a help, so I was in the recliner taking a nap until things became a bit more active. At about 4 AM after nothing seemed to be helping, she decided she wanted something for the pain, and the nurse flat out refused to call her doctor. I quietly left the room and waited by the nurses station until the nurse returned. I proceeded to chew her out for
NW_pluviophile 8y ago Booked a hotel for a week long stay for a business trip. Took the family with me. At 11am our first day the hotel tried to kick my family out while I was in a meeting. Got the call from my frantic wife. Cleaning lady was not being cool, manager was there saying they had to leave, and my kids had locked themselves in the bathroom and were scared shitless. It was all a mistake that took me an hour to straighten out. Yelled at the regional manager until hotel manager went down and kissed my families
EVRYPOOPISAEMERGENCY 8y ago Leaving the gym one day I noticed a couple of hitch hikers on a particularly danger on ramp onto a highway. As I was speeding up I gave them the obligatory nod and hand wave to acknowledge their existence. After I pass them a hear something hit my truck and immediately check my mirror to see what happened. That's when I see it, This fucking guy threw something at my truck because I wouldn't pick him up. Alright guy I got you I hit the next exit and circled around and that's when it hit me... I
8y ago At work we just bought a company and we're gonna manage all their IT, they all got shitty ultrabooks and need to be replaced because it lacks some security hardware. A guy from the company came up with $3500 laptops (each) and told me this was the only one that met their requirements. Не obviously think our company is gonna pay for it, which we are not - but I proceeded with order anyway, so can't wait to see their response when the bill comes in.. 889 ... + 61 more replies
8y ago I work at a tool and die shop as a designer, programmer, and operator so I have my own work station with a computer that has internet. A couple months ago one of the apprentices was cleaning up the parts I was making right by my station and noticed that I was looking up bus routes online and said, Oh nice you have internet. I didn't think anything of it until the next day when I came into work this mother f#$@er is on my computer looking up random stuff on MY work computer.. I was fucking
Multibuff 8y ago | was standing in a taxi line late in the evening at an airport in France. It was a short line, but the taxis took forever to show up. After 15-20 min it was getting closer and a huge taxi showed up which would take a large family behind in the line. When they were shuffling up the line we had to move around and give them space and this guy sneak behind me and stands by my side a little in front of me. I notice this and when the next taxi was for me, I
AsianGuyUsingReddit 8y ago Edited 8y ago This happened yesterday: When the elevator in my condo arrived this guy closed it on me literally right when the doors opened, so I pressed the elevator again and the same one opened. I went in and turned out the dude was moving all his stuff like a mattress and everything. We need fobs for the elevator to go to a floor so I did mine and he asked I'm moving in can I use your fob? I replied you closed the door on me earlier right? Nah you can't So he was stuck
MTAlphawolf 8y ago My brother's HS graduation. I was still a sophmore. I had to go alone to save 14 seats for my family. I had agreed to do it because I thought I would have the loud aunt and another cousin or two. Got there 3 hours early, and they were not back from an errand yet. Turned away teachers, coaches (one who I never saw again), and military vets. And of course my entire family is last minute, so I had the last 14 seats in the whole place. My dad finally got there, said he would take
scottiebass 8y ago I was in a grocery store in a not-so-great area of town, and for some reason there was only one cashier open and the line was fairly long. When my turn came up, this lady came from around the exit part of the register, stepped in front of me, and put her few items in front of my stuff on the conveyor belt ! I said What are you doing ?, and this lady said I'm not waiting in this line, so befor she could say another word, I grabbed her items, handed it to the person behind
sirdigbykittencaesar 8y ago There aren't clear queues around the circulation desk at my library, so I was waiting my turn in the amorphous clot of people, keeping track of who was ahead of me, and when it would be my turn. I was on deck, about to step up to the desk, when an entitled old man marched up and cut right in front of me. I thumped my books down on the counter, said, I was waiting, and it was MY turn! then left. Yep, I'm a real badass. - 301 ...
askmewhyihateyou 8y ago was working as a cashier at a grocery store, so as can be expected, we have our regulars. I had worked at this grocery store for over a year, so was pretty close to some of the regulars. It was about 10 at night and a regular comes through my line. She doesn't have a lot of stuff, so I'm going my average speed and were just talking. She asks me about school, I ask her about her kids, etc. Eventually some guy behind her in line says I don't have all day. Motherfucker, U-scan is open.
Ellecatat 8y ago A friend, who I have been frustrated with for a while, invited herself to come to my house, flew down and completely made the trip about her. As someone with mental illness (which she knows about) interrupting my routine really threw my balance off. The second to last day she was here she decided to call me a fucking bitch for telling her that all the social interaction was taking a toll on me. I went outside to calm down because I was trying to be a polite adult but when I came back in she was
michaelnpdx 8y ago I really cannot handle people on their cell phones in a movie. I'm not so sensitive as to be bothered by the quick glance, as we have children and on the rare occasion we get a babysitter and actually make it to a movie we keep our phones on silent but will peek under a jacket if there's a notification to make sure everything is ok. It's these people who will just pull their phone out and browse Facebook that I just can't tolerate. I always call people out, starting out with a friendly whisper, Hey, can
8y ago There is a local windows and siding company called American Exteriors that has really pushy and intrusive marketing practices. I made the mistake of giving them my phone number once. They proceeded to call me 3 times per day (not an exaggeration) trying to sell me their stuff. They refused to stop calling until I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Do Not Call List. They also send around door-to-door canvassers around town. They typically knock on my door two or three times per year pulling the same stuff. Every time it happens
Scrappy_Larue 8y ago | was on a NY subway, and a guy came through the car handing out pens with a little note card. It said that he was deaf, and he sells these pens for donations. People saw me take a pen, make some hand gestures, break the pen in half, and give it back to him. I was raised in the deaf community, who hated this scam. I signed, You're not deaf. Even if you are, this is illegal. Не didn't have a clue what I said. - 7.5K ...
