Upon hearing news that Cheers star George Wendt passed away Tuesday morning, one bar wasted no time in literally pouring one out for the late sitcom legend. The Bull & Finch Pub in Boston served as the inspiration for the long-running series, and paid homage to their heaviest-drinking fictional patron by creating a DIY memorial in his honor, complete with a vase of flowers and a perfectly foamy mug of beer. “Thank you for all the laughs,” read a sign placed on the bar of the iconic Massachusetts tavern.
Meanwhile, on the Sunny side of TV news, FXX overlord John Landgraf showered heaps of praise on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson, comparing the star not to her slapstick rival, Bugs Bunny, but to another iconic comedienne. “Kaitlin was just great,” the exec recalled of watching Olson audition nearly two decades ago. “It was like watching Lucille Ball walk through the door.”
