24 Wild Times People Had Their Lives Saved

If you’ve never had anyone save your life, consider yourself part of the luckiest of three categories of person. The first being someone who’s never needing saving, the second being someone who has needed saving and received it, and the third, least fortunate category of people that are no longer with us.

Reddit thread asked users who belonged to category two to share their stories, and you can bet that no one with a story that fits fails to remember it in detail. Here’s a collection of thankful survivors shouting out their known or anonymous guardian angels

YuriNate 11y ago the captain of my football team. | broke my neck in the middle of training, he knew something was wrong when i didn't stand up, came racing over, stabilised my head, talked me through it all, etc. find out that if my neck had moved even a fraction further i would have severed my spinal cord and boom, no more YuriNate. edit: obligatory shout out to the surgeons and nurses who also saved my life. can't believe i forgot them.
thisafternoon 11y ago I was a bike messenger here in my city when I was t-boned by a minivan. Cracked skull, broken ribs, shattered collarbone, etc.. Woke up to Darth Maul and a couple Storm Troopers. Thinking I was dead I faded back to unconsciousness. Later learned that the accident occurred right around the corner from the venue where DragonCon was being held. Darth and friends called 911, stopped the bleeding, and kept me still/company until the paramedics arrived.
doctadolla a 11y ago when i was 14-15, a friend and i decided to swim out to a small island that at first didnt seem to far for me. As we started swimming,i i realized im not a strong swimmer and i start to struggle to keep aflote. i then passed out, and woke up on the beach of the island we were trying to reach. my friend had dove underwater and then carried me to the bank of that beach. we then poked crabs with sticks and got a ride back to a boat dock close by.
illy-chan 11y ago Was in a nasty car crash and sustained internal damage to my intestines. It was so small that it actually didn't show up on any tests but, left untreated, I would have gone septic and experience a very painful death. The head of the ER had a hunch or something though and insisted upon exploratory surgery, found the hole and fixed it. I guess tests can't replace experience.
hiimnatalie 11y ago I went hiking with my brother when I was 11 ( he was 13) by ourselves. We hiked to the top of a mountain and it was great. However we decided to climb down a different way than we went up. I ended up slipping on some shale and fell 100 feet. My brother tried to save me but fell also and died on the scene. However people in the valley below had been on their deck and and thought we were mountain sheep and had gotten out binoculars and had saw me fall. They called 911.
mkicon 11y ago One time I was swimming in a lake that had this long dock around it. I say swimming, but at the time I couldn't swim. I was walking in the water. Well walking along, I basically fell into a hole. I jumped up a few times, and could barely get my head out of the water. After a few jumps, a woman happened to see me, and tossed me a life jacked and a rope. I grabbed hold, floated and she pulled me to the dock to safety. It was pretty crowded that day, and had she
Fallid 11y ago Just over a year ago, I was in a deep pit of depression. I felt like | had no one who cared about me, no one who would miss me if I was gone, like I was just in the way of the people around me. My roommate came home to me tying a noose around the posts in the ceiling. She physically tackled me to the ground, and wouldn't let me up for about 2 hours. We talked for the next 6 hours straight just sitting on the floor. We went downstairs and just hung out
11y ago -eDgAR- When I was about 10 years old I was crossing the street to meet my dad who was picking me up from the library. I wasn't paying attention and suddenly I got pulled back by a random stranger. If he hadn't done that I would've been hit by a car that didn't see me crossing.
StChas77 11y ago When my sister and | were kids, we were out front of our home, playing near the mailbox. Mom and Dad were there by the window watching, and according to them, my mother turned to my father and asked him to bring us inside. Не shrugged her off, but she became more urgent. Не asked why it was a problem, and she suddenly panicked and started heading towards the front door despite being less than a week away from giving birth to our youngest sister. Не stopped her and stepped outside to call us in, and we
11y ago When I was 15, I took a bottle of pills. My best friend at the time found me in a daze. Не stuck his fingers down my throat while on the phone with 911. Had he not forced me to throw up all over him, I would be dead right now. We don't talk anymore, after a huge falling out after many...many years of friendship, but I can never thank him enough for saving my life.
bcos4life 11y ago My best friend gave me the Heimlich maneuver. I tried to eat a doughnut in one bite. Не wrapped me up as I started to black out.
11y ago When I was younger, about 3, I used to suck on coins? For what reason I have no clue, I liked the taste? The click-clack in my mouth? Anyhow, it got stuck in my oesophagus and I was choking to death. We lived in Egypt at the time, and my nanny provided me the heimlich.
Quirkylobster 11y ago Sister. Was boogie boarding and slowly going out to sea. Inexperienced young me just panicked. She swam over and helped pull me back. Only really just remembered it now. Now I'm a little water eyed
DarkAngel401 11y ago When I was maybe 4 or 5 I was a dumbass kid at a family reunion. Swimming. | was told not to go into the deep end of the water cause I didn't have floaties. | did anyways. I almost drowned. Well technically I did. I took water in my lungs but I'm still alive. I forget who saved me. But I barffed all over the deck.
jakeputz 11y ago When I was about 12 I was with my family in Hawaii, and | got myself in a really bad spot in the ocean. I was boogie boarding and got pulled by the current to a place where I was being pushed by large waves into a big pile of lava rocks and a sea wall. I was pretty sure I was about to die, then a local man swam out and rescued me. When I got back on dry land my older sister came up to me and said we need to get out of here
Gutterlungz1 . 11y ago Paramedics. Twice. Heroin is dangerous. 63 ...
NewBroPewPew 11y ago 1st cavalry division Mosul Iraq. I was in a Military Police company from the National Guard. We were there to train the Iraqi Police in police work. We were not trained nor equipped well for complicated or long engagements. A hand full of times those guys saved our asses. | have no doubt in my mind I would have been at least seriously injured if not for those men. Seemed like everytime anyone thought about hurting us 1st Cav would pop around the corner like a super hero and start kicking ass.
Cfchicka . 11y ago Yea, fucking ObamaCare. I have Lupus, and I'm 28.
Sanspepins 11y ago Not so tragic, but it happened I went diving one more time when I was 16. At the time, I loved it, and was going once a week during the summer. This time, everything was going as usual, everything was so beautiful with big groupers swimming around. Then I realized when we were at 20 meters below surface that I was nearly out of air. I was the last of my group of 4 : everyone was swimming a little far from me. So, without air, I rushed to the adult of my group and showed my manometer. We
aCause4Concern 11y ago A trucker noticed my family's car upside down, well off the side of the road and down an embankment. Had he not been looking and used his CB radio (this was the 70's - no cell phones) to call for help... George Hurst invented the jaws of life that they used to cut me out of the crushed car.... Civilian paramedics and Canadian Armed Forces medical personnel extracted me from the car and closed up the huge gaping hole in my head before I bled out. I thank those folks for saving my life.
Wombmate 11y ago Suffering from Crohn's before I was actually diagnosed meant that I was bleeding rectally in addition to intense stomach aches. I never like to complain so I never told anyone. One time after seeing a chunk of what looked like bloody intestines or mucus or something fall into the toilet (gross I know) I told my brother about it and said not to tell anyone. Не told my mom. After being taken to the hospital the doctor said he was surprised I was still walking around with how much blood I had lost and was immediately given
sockers8 11y ago I got saved by a giant douche but only thanks to his being a dick. My girlfriend and I were driving down the street where we had to stop for a red light. The light turns green and we start driving but a guy decided that was the perfect time to use that crosswalk and go right in front of us. I kept waving at him to move along to which he promptly replied by flipping us off. We had stopped just before the oncoming traffic because we didn't want to hit this guy. Right as he
hrabib 11y ago I was with my mom at the grocery store. Think I was around 6 or 7. Middle aged woman working there was giving out samples of sausage. I grabbed a big piece and ate it. It had a tough outer skin that I didn't chew well enough. | started choking and my mom didn't know what to do. Sample lady runs around from behind her table and gives me the heimlich. Thanks for saving my life sample lady.
11y ago When I was about 7 my parents took my brother and me tubing over summer vacation. We hit some rapids and my tube flipped over. The current of the rapid pushed me under water and I remember swimming as hard as I could and not being able to get to the surface. A red headed boy coming down the river noticed me under water and jumped out of his tube to help me. Не grabbed me and pulled me to the bank on the side of the river. I choked up my weight in water, and there's
