29 Times ‘The Worst They Can Say Is No’ Ended in Something Worse Than A ‘No’

When it comes to bravely asking questions, rejection is just the tip of the worst-case-scenario iceberg. Just take it from one Redditor, whose door-to-door high school fundraising efforts ended in a whole lot of serious pain.

“Went to knock on someone’s door to ask for money as part of an annual high school band fundraiser,” they recalled. But as soon as the homeowners opened the door, the family dog attacked. “Left me with permanent damage in my leg and a fear of dogs I’m still not 100 percent over 12 years later,” they continued.

Below are more answers worse than “no” that other Redditors have (barely) lived to tell about, the wildest including firings, unnecessary suits and a drained bank account.

capturednaturalbeau 3y ago Oh, this is a good one. I got a job offer after being out of work for months. I had questions about the usual, salary, time off, nothing major and not making demands, just asking...if they had said no to all of them, I'd have taken the job anyway. Their response? I'm sorry but we are withdrawing the offer. WHAT? Who does this? - 6.5K Award Share ...

usernameemma 3y ago Asked my crush to dance in middle school, said he already had a dance partner, so I said okay, that's fine! And walked away, only to look back at the sound of laughter and see him dancing with a chair Не decided to show me, in front of everyone, that I was less attractive than a chair. I was so excited I ran out that weekend and got a suit, told my friends, etc... She calls me on Sunday, which was surprising since I realised I hadnt ever given her my number. tommygunz007 3y ago I am an inventor and I walked into a meeting to show someone what I did and tried to land the sale. dinoaids 3y ago - Edited 3y ago My coworker asked for a raise and instead of getting the raise he got fired. On the way out, he saw a TV in a box on the floor and asked if he could buy it and they gave it to him for like 50% off. Edit: just talking about this makes me miss my dude. I never laughed so hard at work than with this guy. Simon, if you still out there, I hope they didn't deport you back to the UK. Award 740 Share ...
Geodudette2014 3y ago I'll preface this by saying I'm a bit awkward at times and seem to repeatedly screw things up. A few years ago, I had a workmate who | got along with pretty well. We would hang out occasionally, but I liked her a lot and really wanted for us to be friends (lame, I know). Her mother had passed away on a certain date, and the anniversary of her death was approaching. I assumed that she would likely be sad on the day, so I marked in my calendar to check on her. The day came, and

-CoreyJ- . 3y ago . Edited 3y ago | asked out a waitress at a bar I frequented and she started crying, and I was horrified, and she said wasn't me, she had just gotten back from a funeral. Edit: Need to clarify that this was years ago in my early 20s. It was really not cool for me to be asking this waitress out, because aside from being nice to me she gave no signal what- so-ever that this would be an okay thing for me to do. - Award Share 523 ...
