It seems our spidey and intergalactic symbiote senses are tingling – and it's not just because Venom and Spider-Man are hitting the big screen in their respective sequel and three-quels coming out over the next several months. After years of staying confined to their own film franchises, separated by the complicated legal trash fire that is Disney and Sony's agreement over who owns the rights to various Marvel characters, it seems Venom and Spider-Man will someday meet again. Earlier this week, Andy Serkis, the director of Venom: Let There be Carnage, which hits theaters on October 15, confirmed that “of course" the two Marvel icons will come face to face down the line, telling IGN that a cinematic reunion is definitely in the cards.

“That’s the question on everyone’s lips,” Serkis said during an Instagram Live interview on Tuesday when asked if the Venomverse and Spiderverse will ever collide. “They want to know when Venom is going to meet Spider-Man. Personally, it’s never going to happen. I’m only joking, of course it’s going to happen," he added, momentarily scaring the sh-t out of superfans who had bet big money on a Spidey/Venom reunion.

Despite the seeming inevitability of the two characters facing off, the 13 Going on 30- breakout star turned-Sony director also advised fans to be patient – a move that coincidentally may prolong his time spearheading a multi-million dollar franchise.

“I think there’s so much… it depends on when you want to get there and also what the appetite is," Serkis continued. “If people want more Venom stories, than to jump straight to Spider-Man you could be missing out on so many great supervillain characters in between now and then. But yes, everyone wants to see Venom fight Spider-Man, so I think it’s appetite."

So, folks here's to a Spider-Man/ Venom reunion – and Topher Grace staying at least a 300-mile radius away from that set.
