The Sanderson Sisters Are Back In New

Well, folks, spooky season is officially in full swing, meaning all of our favorite autumnal icons are back in all their Halloween glory.

Last week, Stevie Nicks, a year-round legend who truly thrives after the fall equinox, took to TikTok to riff on "Dreams" status as Gen Z's "new" favorite feel-good autumn banger.

Shortly after, Kimberly J. Brown, a.k.a Marnie from Disney Channel's Halloweentown film series, shared a video of her getting into the holiday spirit, transforming back into her classic character, late-90's teen witch getup and all.

Yet out of every wholesome Halloween icon sharing their holiday spirit on social media this week, there are three that rule them all -- the Sanderson sisters, of course. Whatever spell Winnifred put on us in Hocus Pocus 27 years ago clearly worked. It may have felt like 300 years, but the witchy trio is finally back and scarier than ever in preparation for their long-awaited reunion. On Sunday, Bette Midler shared an adorable behind-the-scenes snap of her and her costars, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker, in what appears to be a dress rehearsal for their performance at Midler's annual Halloween charity gala, set for October 30.

"Your 3 fav witches - @sarahjessicaparker @kathynajimy & ME - are returning for 1 night only on 10/30 at 8p ET," Midler wrote. "'In Search of the Sanderson Sisters'" is the best thing to happen to #Halloween since Hocus Pocus + Reeses Pieces." Hocus Pocus AND Reeses Pieces seem like a pretty tough act to follow, but hey, they clearly have witchcraft (and the lure of pure,  joyful nostalgia) on their side. Anything is possible

Dubbed to be "one of the most delightful, family-friendly and pandemic-safe Halloween shows of the year," according to the New York Restoration Project (NYRP), which Midler founded in 1995, just two years after the film's release, the spooky reunion aims to raise money to help preserve green spaces within New York City, with tickets on sale for $10. However, Midler's charity isn't the only organization to cash in on the film's success almost three decades later. Despite having a questionable initial release, reportedly losing Disney more than $16 million, Hocus Pocus rallied earlier this month, garnering $3.086 million in just 10 days, passing The Empire Strikes Back to become the year's highest-grossing rereleased film, according to Forbes

What can I say? They put a spell on us, and now we're theirs -- clearly, it's more than just hocus pocus.
