I decided to go as something not slutty this year (Phantom of the Opera) and it was WAAYYY more fun. I got way more compliments because my costume wasn't so cliche and I was a hell of a lot warmer too. I'm never going back!

Maybe I'm not understanding the point of this video...is the point that men DON'T like the "slutty" costumes, or that men don't like that "good girls" are PRETENDING to be slutty? Or is this a real cry from men "Please! Women! Keep your bewbies and booties covered! We just can't STAND it!" ...Or for the real sincere men who honestly enjoy seeing a good cos-play asking for some semblance of a good costume and not just "bewbies"?

I realize it may sound a bit snarky to ask that way, but as a plus sized woman I gotta be honest, every Halloween that passes I have to pick between:

A. being pissed off at the world for having "slutty" costumes for skinny ass bitches only (I'd love to be a slutty Lt. from Star Trek myself but apparently the makers of the costumes only make them size XXSmall, XSmall, and Small...did you know the AVERAGE American woman is a size 14?) and I can't join in the fun of being slutty for one f*****g night!

or B. the option of staying at home in my pajamas and glaring at the TV.

So I ask you men again, what the hell is it that you want? Do you really mean to say that I can show up wearing my hair in a bun, my glasses, a long grey skirt and a black sweater that DOESN'T show ANY cleavage and you'll be totally okay with that as my "school teacher" costume and that ZOMG you'll be ALL over me?!...

   Personally I'd rather people just dress up as whatever they want to dress up as. If they want to be slutty, let them be slutty. If they want to dress up in a highly conservative manner, that's also fine. Generally I'm more impressed by costumes that are more imaginative, whether they're hand-made or simply something I didn't expect. One can't deny that Halloween costumes for girls do seem to be a bit saturated on the "Slutty X" front.
   
   So if you like your school teacher costume, go for it!

   Uh, it's a joke is what it is. A rather funny one set to an infectiously catchy tune. Personally I look down on girls in slutty Hallowe'en costumes (though a slutty John Locke would be totally awesome), but that opinion is hardly necessary to enjoy it.

   Also, people can get as fat as humanly possible but it doesn't change the medical definition of a healthy weight. I don't really understand when these misguided pro-obesity "activists" cite skyrocketing median BMI's as evidence that they're normal and I'm weird for being skinny. If you're fat you're fat and should lose some weight, not demand that men find your fat rolls attractive because in your opinion you "got it goin' on".

   @Magdalena, there are ways to look sexy and be plus size. I typically rock a corset (true to life renaissance steel boned corset) and I can look sexy without looking trashy. And I'm plus size too. a lot of it is about the confidence you exude and dressing to your form. Because I've seen skinny girls in slutty costumes that don't look slutty or sexy, They just look like a mess.
   
   @Ishmail, while you're correct in the medical definition and that the OP shouldn't be expecting people to fawn all over her and her weight, you also seem to forget that there's a large amount of research that shows that skinny people can be less healthy than fat people. I think that BMI or elsewise, if you eat right (portions), eat healthy, and exercise it doesn't matter much. Because some people (like me for instance) have actual disorders that mess you up weight wise. Just saying.

   In a nutshell, guys "like" slutty outfits on at least a purely biological level, but on a more conscious level, the more moral among us realize that it's wrong to like it. So, guys will tend to take their anger out on slutty-dressing girls rather than accept that this is just another way biology steers us away from what is morally right.

   A. You don't have to dress slutty. A lot of guys prefer funny costumes (I fucked a spork one year) to whorish ones, and up until bar close you'll probably get more people talking to you than if you were "whorin it up". It's not slutty or nothing; just have fun.
   B. What is the definition of a plus size woman? According to my American-education math, shouldn't you be considered a "plus size" if you're bigger than a size 0?

ok first of all: cody, i love you for the simple fact that you seem to think about LOST as much as i do, which is all the damn time (not kidding, a lot. love that show lol) secondly are any of these guys really complaining when those girls with their s**tty costumes? not that i wear them (the s**ttiest i got was an authenic "claire bennet-cheerleader from heroes" costume that actually had a really short skirt with a spilt in it that made me uncomfortable so i wore tights underneath to feel less s**tty) but no one complained...

   You don't need bare skin to be slutty. A costume could be form-fitting to accentuate certain features over others, for example. I do agree some were sluttier than others.

   Of course women should be allowed to be sluts just as much as guys, nothing wrong with it, it's just unfortunate that the term s**t has such negative connotations. That said at least amongst people I know the most common term for a 'player' guy is Man-Whore, which hardly has strong positive connotations, yet the guys still generally take it as a compliment. So ladies next time someone calls you a s**t try replying with "Cheers, I take pride in my work" or something along those lines. Be proud of your sexual prowess and then maybe people will see it as a positive like they do with guys.
