They should have leave the claws outside for a month or two to allow the claw wounds to close. But seeing that the claws are activated by clenching a fist, it may need some discipline.
Somehow I find the way they die disturbingly cute. Awwwweewww...

No, Wolverine only had one mutant power, the claws were implanted artificially.

   Hah, Marvel Lore fail. Wolverine's claws were part of his original super powers, they were just made of bone. The healing factor, as explored by this video is actually a "Required Secondary Power." And anyway, he had three: they forgot his super senses.
