I had to read the comments to notice the portal (only ever played the flash game). When I saw #1, I thought maybe only the suitcase and gun were faked. I thought those were firemen and it made me think that maybe those were the last moments of the Faber in Fahrenheit 451 because I couldn't remember if he was burned or not.

#4 refers to the Chemins de Fer de l'Ouest train wreck of 1895; read about it on Wikipedia. There are lots of pics available if you google by Image. AFAIK, the joke is that where the train bursts through the wall, the photo is blurred to suggest the "Lost" pilot in which a guy gets sucked into the jet engine. That's my best guess.

These were too subtle for me; I struggled with several of them and don't recognise most of the pictures. The least subtle one was #11, though, and that was my least favourite, so I guess you guys can't win.

Terrific crop of entries in this one. The best were the ones where it was hard to tell what to look for because the change to the image was so subtle. Unfortunately I didn't get the inside jokes in #4 and #5 until I read the comments, though. My favorites were #19, #17, #16, #13 (nice job with the lighting in that one), and just for laughs, #2.

I'm embarrassed to say the one that took me the longest to get was the Moon landing image. If you think about it you EXPECT to see the Moon in the sky, not the Earth, and that's what threw me off.
