I don't mind people having different beleifs. It acually maks things interesting. I have many friends who beleive in different things, including aetheists. What I don't like is when people start attacking other beleifs as if they have more validity. Science has it's holes and paradoxs too.

"You're just mad because you're going to go to hell when you die." "...ok I guess 2 can play at that game. You're just mad because YOU WORSHIP THE WORLD's MOST FAMOUS ILLEGITAMATE CHILD!" "Marry's pregnancy was completely legit!" "Did you're mom use the same excuse for how she got pregnant with you? Maybe something like "God beamed a ray of light into my vagina, or something like that"? ".....it was a rainbow" Haha just repeating a stupid conversation I heard the other day. Im an athiest too so I support the side that disagrees with them pesky Christians.

darkhorse08817, while it's true that there is no documentary proof that Jesus existed, there's little documentary evidence about the existence of the majority of the human race throughout history. That doesn't mean they didn't exist, simply that there is no proof they did. There is, however, plenty of indirect evidence of the existence of Jesus, most notably being the establishment of a cult following his teachings, which were recorded within living memory of his death.

Dalarsco - wrong about atheism. It doesn't make an assumption in the logical sense of the word, except require objective proof of the implausible proposition that God exists. In the absence of such proof, it goes ahead w/ logical assumption of non-existence. There is no dogma to atheism, just the simple, cold, rational, logic that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Folk saying there's a dogma to atheism are just doing the tu quo quo ("you did it too") logical fallacy - and fucking it up even worse by lying/creating the quo quo out of scratch. Basically, they've already conceded that their premise is batshit insane and, so instead of trying to defend the indefensible they make up some shit about "the other side's just as dingbat loco like me" :D

There actually is no record that Jesus existed. It's possible that he did, and that he was executed by the Romans - they were crucifying troublesome subjects, particularly Jews, by the woodlot back in those days. So there's nothing implausible that some Jewish guy called Jeshua tried to get all reformist, ticked off the Jewish temple leadership, who then turned to the Romans and pointed him out as a troublemaker - and the Romans would've dealt w/ him as routinely (and brutally) as they dealt w/ all troublesome conquered subjects. That's possible - but there is no particular record that it actually did happen to the particular Jeshua we're talking about, or even that an actual man w/ that name ever existed - the book celebrating his life and teachings wasn't compiled until a long time after his death. Far as the Arab/Persian angle, that's just asinine and implausible conjecture in the context of that period's history - or even in the context of the story, period. If the kid's

Man there needs to be an edit button. I thought #1 was hilarious until I saw the penis. It wasn't even close to the best dick joke, but as a drug sharing joke it was great.

Oh, and atheism is no less a religion than Christiany, Islam, or Judaism. It requires an assumption one way or the other, and comes with it's own dogma. Only agnosticism is actually an absence of religion, and agnostics rarely take part in such debates because they don't give a damn.

@PalinisaMILF: Actually, at the time Jews in the area were Arabs. Arabs were divided into a tribal structure, and certain tribes were Jewish. They diasporated throughout the Roman Empire and interbred with Europeans, giving rise to the common Jewish combination of features which included white skin and Semitic bone structure. The non-diasporated Jews in Arabia overwhelmingly sided with the Clan Quraysh of Mecca against Mohammad, and subsequent Caliphs forced the survivors to convert to Islam because at the time it was seen as the religion of the Arabs and a way to separate them from the other peoples they conquered. The non-Arab Jews who were not converted then became prominent in banking and business because Islam (like Christianity in Europe) banned the charging of interest. Like in Europe, this control of business eventually caused resentment that led to discrimination, made worse by the connection to groups that had opposed the rise of Mohammad.
