If you live in Minnesota, for those who have lived in the upper midwest, you know that when it gets cold here Polar Bears flee south, and when it gets hot you avoid shorts and vinyl seats at all costs. But there are those precious few days when the weather is ideal and no one appreciates those days more than us considering the hell we put ourselves through to get them.

Being a Twin Citian, I have lived the perfect balance of city life and country bumpkinism. Growing up I lived five minutes from the ghetto, ten from downtown and 20 from cornfields and cows.

Our idea of a vacation was heading north (pronounced NORT, emphasis on the T) to the lake, or cabin. The best part was that our house in the cities was on a lake but we still felt it necessary to have a completely separate, fully furnished and utility connected house on another lake several hours drive away. It seems silly but you have to experience it to understand that it makes perfect sense to us. And if we got bored of our first home, and our second home... well we would visit one of the hundreds of state and county parks and pitch a tent and camp. Yep, in case we needed to be reminded of how easy things were, we'd stick ourselves out in the midst of the deer, coyotes and bears with the potential for severe weather always a risk with a thin nylon walls our only protection against such formidable adversaries.

I have the outdoors fully in my blood and enjoy camping, backpacking, hunting, fishing, paintball and baseball. Come winter I enjoy snowboarding, snowmobiling, hockey, and ice fishing (just like it sounds, sit on a frozen lake, drill a hole and fish through it).
