(September 24, 1948 – May 28, 1998) was a Canadian-born American actor, voice actor, comedian, writer and graphic artist.

He first came to widespread attention in the late 1980s and early 1990s for his roles on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live for which he won an Emmy Award in 1989. Afterwards he went on to appear in many films. He also had frequent roles on the The Simpsons as fading actor Troy McClure and as incompetent lawyer Lionel Hutz as well as the major part of Bill McNeal on the NBC sitcom NewsRadio. He was shot dead by his wife Brynn while asleep in his home in Encino, California on May 28, 1998.
