Just because we're trapped in a bubble, doesnt mean we cant cause big trouble
this one time in 'nam, the platoon was doing a routine search and destroy outside a small ville in the mekong delta a few clicks away from the cambodian border when we got hit by an ambush. one minute rodriguez was just walking point, the next he was rolling on the ground screaming for a medic, blood pouring out the five holes charlie had drilled in his chest. they hit us hard and they hit us fast man...we had no time to even think, i hit the dirt and rolled behind some cover just in enough time to see the guy in front of me blown to pieces by an rpg. sullivan and garcia got cut off from the rest of the platoon and went running for the nearby ville across the rice paddies but the vc just shot em down. lieutenant hatcher bought it when he stood up and a vc ran across the trail and gutted him with a knife, a fuckin knife man...the fngs brought in fresh from the world got pinned down in a nearby ravine so cleveland and scavella got iced trying to clear a path to them. then, it was over just as suddenly as it started and silence descended upon 'nam once more. when we returned to the firebase we learned that bravo company had also taken heavy casualties in a daytime raid by the nva, we were walking through the wire just as they were piling the bodies up in a shallow ditch near the eastern perimeter. you could barely tell their dead from ours but i no longer cared, i had gone cold inside...
when in doubt, shoegaze
Things I dont get to say often enough:
"Shut up and kiss me"
"I was born ready..."
"The red wire?! Theyre all red wires!"
"Well (insert dude's name here) you've been a good friend and I thank you but chances are I wont make it back from this one. Tell (insert girl's name here) (pause longingly)...tell her, I'm sorry."
