After college, I spent 8 years working as a Corrections Officer. My original goal of perusing a career in law enforcement was flushed down the toilet after I sustained a serious injury from an inmate assault. So, knowing I didn't want to spend the rest of my life in jail (even if it was on the blue side instead of the orange-jumpsuit side), I let my employer pay for me to go back to school and change careers. Not sure what to do, I chose nursing for the decent pay, flexible schedule, and ability to move wherever the hell I want and have a job within a week. Yeah, sorry... No honorable motives there. Since becoming a Registered Nurse, I have specialized in neurosurgical nursing and psychiatric nursing. I'm married to an Army veteran whose decorations prove he could kick your ass, have a step-son, and a dashund who looks more like a kielbasa than a hot dog.
