The Best Actress Academy Award has been presented annually since 1929 to 69 different actresses. It's also been called the Best Female Actor Award by those of the feminist variety.
As of this moment, Sandra Bullock is the most recent winner of the award, and the only actress to win a Razzie Award in the same weekend. She won for The Blindside and All About Steve, respectively.
The 83rd Academy Award Best Actress nominations were just announced. (Ignore if you're reading this in 2012. Also, stop reading and hide from the Apocalypse, man.) I'm pretty sure ol' Nat-Nat Portman is going to bring home the gold, but, Annette Benning, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michelle Williams are also nominated. Wow, all the nominees are really hot this year.
Here's a few more things about the Best Actress Award that only select industry insiders like myself are allowed to know:
-The award was at first to be determined by a nude mud-wrestling match, but the Best Actor dudes wanted to go that route too and the Academy said, "Fuck that."
-Meryl Streep has a tramp-stamp that reads "Sweet 16" and shows it at dinner parties regularly.
-Sandra Bullock kicked alot of ass to get that award.
Okay, maybe one of those is false. I am quite up on my Oscar shit, though. Natalie Portman will win, so go ahead and place some bets.
