Death From Above 1979

Death from Above 1979 is a drum and bass duo from Toronto. They rock harder than a group of erections at a dong convention.

Damn right.

Two words to describe this: album covers. I also would've accepted

Just The Facts

  1. Death from Above 1979 is conprised of Jesse F. Keeler on the bass and keyboards and Sebastien Grainger on the drums and vocals.
  2. They, along with Rush, almost make up for Canada giving us Celine Dion. Almost.
  3. If you don't feel like head-butting the whole world when listening to this band, you're listening to it wrong.

Cracked on Death from Above 1979

What can be said about Death From Above 1979 that hasn't been said about Mountain Dew?: It's exciting. It's the essence of life. It can help one travel through time [citation needed].

While there are many stories about how the group formed (due to the band itself creating many a rumor) two things are sure; when Keeler and Grainger's first album was released in 2002, and that those two borderline immortals are a couple of magical sons of bitches. It spite of only being a two-man band, DFA manages to pump out some of the catchiest tunes in one of the most balls-outiest forms.

However, in 2006 the band officially split up due to creative differences ( perhaps questioning whether they rocked a shit-load or an ass-load). Grainger is envolved in his group, Sebatien Grainger & the Mountains, while Keeler is envolved in MSTERKRFT (pronounced master craft).

By the way, there's this video of them playing on Conan O'brien and it's way badass because Max Weinburg joins in the song halfway. If you can find it please send me a link.
