Anime is Japan's version of cartoon shows. Unlike American favorites like Winnie-the-Pooh, Yogi Bear, The Simpsons and Family Guy, anime contains more fantasy and wildly intense scenarios. Animes have women (mostly) with bodies similar to Amazons than Japanese.
Besides varietized hair color and styles, anime characters are popularly known for their eyes. Yes, there is a certain allure to those huge, long lashed pink, blue, purple, green, blue, yellow, infected red, and eerily black eyeballs, isn't there? The fact that there is a fantastical anime character for all those fat men sitting in his mother's basement isn't too bad either.
Manga are comics and printed cartoons. Manga was popular among people during World War II and has continued to remain a hot item even to his day.
The concept that Americans seem to adore about manga is that it is read opposite of how everyone in the United States normally reads. Yes, I'll explain. That means that instead of reading boring Twilight books left to right, more interesting comics like Bleach are read right to left. Sticking with me? Good.
