The Climate Bill

After a long(buzz-killing) debate, the House of Representatives passed the Climate Bill. If you're not the kind of person who knows what our country is doing these days, then you probably don't know this..

This caused more headaches than Fran Drescher's voice. Probably.

Just The Facts

  1. The Climate Bill institutes a cap and trade system, which aims to reduce 17 percent of America's prduction of greenhouse gases by 2020.
  2. The legislations also includes provisions to create cleaner technologies and alternative energy sources.
  3. The bill passed barely, with the talley of 219 to 212.

What This Means for Americans

Well there are a lot of ideas and speculation on what this bill has done to help/fuck our economy. The most prominent speculation is that the bill will cause trade wars, due to tariffs on goods imported from countries that don't match U.S. carbon dioxide restrictions. If that doesn't scare you(or piss you off), arlines, oil producers, and mining companies say the bill will lead to troublesome new costs to consumers. Holy Shit, right? Well, it gets worse. The National Mining Association stated, "It will affect every aspect of the American economy, harming our ability to compete in the world and provide secure and affordable energy to American consumers and businesses." If you're saying, "Didn't you say there was some good to this, you said that." "Right?" don't get your panties in a twist just yet.

Fuck You!!

Democrats who support the bill insist the mesure will spur job-creating investments in "green" technologies, while lessening U.S. reliance on foreign oil. They aslo say it is a measure that would improve national security, create jobs, protect the environment and reestablish the United States as a world leader. The bill mandates a 17-percent cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 and a 83-percent cut by 2050. This will be done by putting a price on carbon-dioxide through a cap-and-trade system. It also mandates that 20 percent of electricity must come from renewable sources. That might sound good and all, but this will raise electricity prices for consumers by $175 a year per household by 2020, according to a report by the Congressional Budget Office.

So Now What?

This bill is just one pain in the ass, it does more bad than good if you ask me. You have nothing to worry about if you're in the crowd who supports the bill, but if you have any doubts than it's probably in your best intrest to read on. There are two probable outcomes that will play out in the near future. One being that the bill goes as planned and we all breath easier knowing that global warming is no longer a pain in the ass. Two being the bill starts WWIII and everything is 100 dollars more expensive. People will go beserk and chaos will fill the land. Soon everyone will fight for themselves and the U.S. as we know it will crumble, or not.
