If there are 2 things that a god heavy metal band needs is riffs and lyrics. Dragonforce doesn't have either. Sure they can play mind-bendingly fast, and the music is theortically inclined, but it is all along the same basic patterns.
The band started out well enough, their first release "Sonic Firestorm" was good enough, because it had never been heard before. But 3 albums later and 3 feet added to Herman Li's hair, and we've got a monotonous freight train of sweeps, dives, squeels and British subject matter that would lose a fight with a kleenex. Sure battle songs are okay, but not if there are 27 9 minute songs all set in the same place.
