Ants
Ants are insects best known for their ability to work and thrive in large, self-sufficient colonies. They also have some of the worst jobs imaginable.
Just The Facts
- Each colony of ants is lead by a queen ant, who lies around giving birth all day, and is therefore too busy to gather food.
- The working portion of the colony is made up entirely of sexually frustrated sterile females, which would rock for the male ants if there were any.
- Ants are able to lift up to 50 times their body weight.
- So, in summary, imagine Slave Leia with super-human strength.
Ants in Culture
Despite their relative harmlessness in nature, ants are often portrayed in the media as biting, stinging, flesh-eating, exploding, destroy-everything-in-their-path super monsters.
In reality, ants are just disgruntled communist workers who are all born into meaningless dead-end jobs, with nothing but their amazing superpowers and appreciation for slavery to turn to for entertainment. Once again, we find that some of the most misunderstood creatures are really just like us, and just like we all are, here on the planet Krypton.

Aww... those poor ants...
What you may not know, however, is that - like the noble honey bee - ants provide humans with all sorts of useful services! Their eggs can be collected for food, they provide young men a chance to prove their manliness, and in some countries, they are even used as practical ways of teaching small children the joy of keeping thousands of biting, stinging, flesh-eating, exploding, destroy-everything-in-their-path super monsters in close proximity to their crotch.
