This may be some web browser setting screw-up, but whenever I post a rather long message on any forum, the whole text box wants to scroll back up to the top of the post (not the internet browser's scroll bar, but the one specific to the posting section). For instance, if this message went on for three paragraphs, after the first one I would not be able to see what I was typing, because the whole thing would scroll up to the top a split second after I type a character or wave the mouse over one of the formatting buttons. Extremely annoying, but hopefully quickly fixed...right?

Oh god, I remember having the same problem on my old laptop.

I never did find the cause, although I think (it was pretty long ago) that I could make the scrolling stop if you pressed  the scroll wheel on your mouse.

That's kind of a tough one to diagnose.... is this on a laptop? What might be happening is that when you type, your computer is, for whatever reason, detecting scroll-wheel movement from your mouse. That's just kind of a shot in the dark because this is a really weird problem. Try uninstalling and reinstalling your keyboard/mouse device drivers? or using a different keyboard/mouse and see if you have different results?

Does the same thing happen in other programs (word, notepad, or whatever) or is it just browser? and which browser do you use, for that matter? if you use a different browser, does the same thing happen? Which OS are you using?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but it's kind of important to establish the above when figuring out what's going on with software stuff.

Sorry for not replying sooner, but, in order:

Sublex: Tried it, no juice.

Badgerconda: On a normal PC, not laptop. Un/reinstalled drivers, problem persisted. Same with mice/keyboards. Does not happen on Word etc., only forum posting. Internet Explorer, which is the only one I have, so can't test the others. Windows Vista.

Completely reset IE or download a different browser. If the error is internal to the post-editing window, then the cause is likely browser-related, like some sort of scripting error or something.

Do what Schroeder said. Why on earth are you still using IE, anyway? get firefox, or chrome, or something.
