Hi guys,

I've been getting some autoreply messages lately from people I have never contacted, and one of them returned the headline: "-ONLINE Health >>*[SPAM94]" - I'm guessing the "spam" part was added by a filter.

I don't have any sent emails I don't know, and I've checked my computer for viruses without result. What can I do about this? Should I contact googlemail? I really don't know. Does this mean my gmail account is compromised, or did somebody just fake the return address and randomly got mine?

Appreciate any help.

They're not sending it from your email, they're just pasting in your email as the return address on the spam they send.

It's a common trick.

Yeah, I get spam all the time at work - from my work email.  It was kind of weird the first couple of times, but now I'm used to it.

OK, that means I don't have to worry about my comp and account's safety, which is good, but it also means that I'll keep getting this stuff, I guess, which is not as good.

I kinda figured it would most likely be this, but I wanted to hear a second opinion before just brushing it off. Thanks.

Man, its pretty weird to think there's probably a few thousand people out there who think I have pissed them off.

Couldn't hurt to doublecheck for malware, although the above posters are probably correct. Make sure you're using a half decent antivirus program to scan with... Malwarebytes is probably the best scanner/remover available for free on the internet.

Depending on what client you use for email access, you ought to be able to filter stuff like that out, though...
