That being said, any list with Celine Dion on it not entitled "Singers Who Shouldn't Be" is a terrible list that I hate.

Historically, what gets me into trouble on this forum is when I disagree with the overall sentiment of a thread and post while intoxicated.  I'm about to do both.

The number one most hated genre of music is 'nu-metal?'  Really?  Everyone that I have ever introduced to Disturbed, after their first CD, and Ill Nino have liked them.  Is that why people dislike it?  If it is because it is metal enough to be metal and still be accessible to the non-metal fan, then I think that is a shitty reason.  Yes, there is a massive shit-storm in this genre, but there is also a massive shit-storm in nearly every genre.  I love prog, too.  But there is so much shit in prog-metal that you need chest waders and a face mask to avoid getting E-coli.

Yes, 'smooth jazz' is not jazz.  Congratulations to the author for pointing that out.  You can almost say that the reason that smooth jazz is hated is because it is so innocuous.  It is the shit that you hear in the elevator, but it is also the shit that makes me not want to murder the asshole that just cut me off in rush-hour traffic.  Back off that shit.  It is the glue that keeps me together when I make it to the office an hour late because everyone driving by the wreck had to take a good, hard look at it.  Of course, I choose my smooth jazz carefully.

Finally.  He discribes people that decry that they 'like all types of music' by saying that they are people that really 'don't care enough about music to have an opinion about it.'  I'm fucking sorry that I don't care if it is classical or nu-metal.  If I detect artistry in it, I like it.  I am genuinely sorry that I am not an over-opinionated prat that feels the need to answer the question, "So... What kind of music are you into?" by listing fifteen genres and claiming that all other music is crap.

This guy is overly-entitled ass, and he can fucking blow me.  He thinks that his opinion are some type of gold standard.  He thinks that musical taste is objective, and that people that disagree with him are either simply wrong or fucking idiots.  I'm not here to argue that something that is popular is good, that is a fool's game.  I'm not here to argue that he is wrong, he is entitled to that opinion.  Where he veers off course is to make the same faulty assuption that many people make, he assumes that because they are his opinions that they are more valid then yours or mine.  Sadly, this author is the same entitled douchebag that comes into the 'Post your musical complaint' thread to say that you shouldn't be a 'corperate drone and listen to Clearchannel' or some such shit.  Really, does this masturbatory blog-post really deserve the same degree of scrutiny that we give other topics on this board?
