You could split this into so many different categories, political, racist, just plain insane. I almost feel like youtube should be excluded because the astonishing thing about comments on youtube videos is that there are the occasional reasonable evenhanded opinion.

To reaffirm the barrel/fish/shotgun scenario I imagined I entered the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is youtube, clicked on a random front page featured video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coRMF005cRI&feature=dir, entitled the greatest volcanoes erupting close up. Surely the comments on this couldn't be so vapid right?
