Wait, I'm confused. Where is the alternate reality game? Was the countdown for the new website? I mean, it was a creepy blog entry, sure, but was that it? What exactly was the announcement, and what are we all happy about?

Please, I'm just as ready as everyone else to yell holy fuck yes that's awesome, but I seem to have missed what exactly just happened.

Or do we still have to wait another hour till midnight?

Okay, so finding http:// johndiesattheend.com/new/photos/johnghost1.jpg was easy enough; but where is this place located? At first, I tried looking at some image search engines that go by pattern recognition. No go.


Then I started using the ol' noodle; "Denison Gholson Dry Goods". What exactly was that? I googled it, and found out that it was a company located in Cairo, Illinois - http: //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairo,_Illinois Apparently, Cairo Illinois underwent a massive desertion, starting shortly after the 1950's.

Notice anything? Take a closer look at that picture, and then at the picture located at http://johndiesattheend.com/new/photos/johnghost1.jpg.


So whatever is going on, Cairo Illinois is at the heart of it - or it is significant. Any Pwotters live near Cairo? Maybe can go visit that building?

I was totally going to post what HappyKitty just said (well, the first half anyway, I didn't get as far as he did) but deleted what I had typed because I thought it would sound completely retarded. I'm an idiot. And I realise now that when David was asking about online games tv shows do to extend their universe (like Lost and Heroes) he wasn't just looking for information for cracked articles. Cool.

Holy crap, now we're talking. That was awesome. Can we start talking about spoilers in this thread or should we start a new one for that? Otherwise this thread's just going to be post after post of white text. Comments on blog post below:

So, in the timeframe this story takes place in, Drake is alive (he is replaced with Monster-Drake in the book and presumed dead) and Dave isn't engaged to Amy, interesting. Although the blog is dated November 2 2008 which is still tomorrow wherever you are in the world (I think).

Man, I've missed these characters.
