Wow, that's incredible!

Man I remember I when I got Bubba Ho-Tep and saw it.  I loved that movie - if you'd told me that the next movie that guy was going to make was going to be a David Wong story, I would have been all like, "That's crazy talk!"  I guess crazy talk truly is the language of God.


I'm thinking Bruce Willis should play John and you should get Brad and Angelina to play Dave and Amy.  You've got a couple hundred mil down on this, right?

Bubba Ho-Tep is a movie starring Bruce Campbell, who plays an elderly Elvis, who is forced to fight a mummy.

That premise, by some alchemy that no one understands, doesn't come off as goofy or campy in the film. Everyone plays it straight, and it winds up being this strangely touching film about somebody in the dead zone of their life suddenly finding purpose.  It's a cult classic.

By the way, anyone who hasn't seen Bubba Ho-Tep should get a copy tomorrow and watch it. It's about two friends in a small town, who suddenly encounter the supernatural and are forced to conduct this hilariously incompetent war with it.

The sanity of the narrator is always in question, because he claims to be Elvis and his story sounds both ridiculous and strangely plausible at the same time.

That's the stupidest idea for a story I've ever seen.

But really, this is some of the best news I've ever heard in my life. All I kept thinking when I was reading parts of the paperback for JDATE was, "man, this sequence would look great in a movie. I also hope there's porn."

I'm so fucking pumped. I'm going to go wait in line right now.

It's actually very much in the same spirit of JDatE. That's why this collaboration is absolutely perfect. Both JDatE and Bubba Ho-Tep manage to take some ridiculous plot ideas that would be laughed out of most writing classes, and make them motherfucking work.

Also, they make a flame thrower out of household items for reasons which make little practical sense.

Jesus, these stories really are oddly similar.

But I too have to recommend Bubba Ho-tep to...well...everyone. It has Bruce Campbell as Elvis fighting a mummy alongside a black JFK. Also, I cried at the end.

Anyways...you should...you know...take a look at my acting resume you know, just in case you need like...I don't know...some guy...about 6' 3", early twenties...you know...just in case.  </self serving publicity>

That aside, genuine congratulations David, I've been following JDatE since 2004 and its wonderful to see it grow into something really special.
