If you haven't seen it yet, they added a new section to the World of Warcraft site called the Armory.  http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/

You can look up people, along with entire guilds, and see all kinds of information about them, like gear, rep, honor, pvp standings etc.  It's kinda like CTProfiles, only it updates every time you log out.

Of course, there are people against the idea and are claiming 'invasion of privacy' and "it might be used against me in an internet argument."

Quote
No I mean that website has more information that people can check. Like specs, reps and honor. They don't need to know how much honor I have or how much rep I have. I can see lot of people abusing this to put others down in irrelevant points.

This website shouldn't exist because people might comment on my talent spec.

Alright, I see both good and bad in this. I think it's a cool idea, and it's nice to be able to search the arena team placement and the guild as well as the idea of searching profiles, however, I can see where the character profile is a bad idea and this is why I find it so:

First off, levels will no longer be ?? to those who can no longer see them. What is to prevent me from now going "Oh no! Soandso just ganked me but I don't know their level or anything about them! Wait! Problem solve." *goes to site, looks up soandso's name on the character search for my server* Ah! Their a 65 with an assassination build and crappy armor! Well, now I know enough about them so I can report to someone else to gank them." For a pvp server, this is a really really bad idea. Initinally the idea of keep levels ?? where to make things a bit more challenging and I know a few people Blizzard has band because of them having a mod that reveals their levels to lower level players or 'estimates' their level by their gear.

Second off, I agree with the comment earlier that this would be alright if I could choose what would and wouldn't be shown to everyone. The gear, I truly don't care about, anyone can inspect me and see what i'm wearing, however, this too can be a downside for the other faction to figure out more on their oponent. I'm not sure if I like others looking at my build only because I dread the "your build sucks!" or "can I copy your build" or even the "wow! Your build is nice however, why don't you respect to blahblahblah". I find this may become very frustrating, and even may lead people to cookie cuttering and well, who knows from their on. Now, I don't know this for a fact, this is just my opinion and guess.

Blizz, I really think this is a good idea to a point, however, you have to look at it from a PVP perspective and see the downsides to what you're allowing the other faction to get an advantage of.

I've already put that out there on like 3 different sites, it doesn't bother me much.  I think it's kinda cool.

My favorite putdown so far was when some guy from Nihilum was trying to argue that consumables weren't overpowered, and someone pointed out that 28 of their 45 mains had herbalism.

Here is me.  I have switched from Fury to Arms, and I am fairly happy with the results.  I should be even more happy when the next patch comes out and I generate more rage, and get a minor boost to my Crit chance.

The best part is that the only thing I had to buy for this build is the axe, which is dirt cheap on Proudmoore (40g buy-out).

Right now I am mining like mad so that I can make the Breastplate of Kings.  My plan is to gather my own bars, and get enough Primal Earth and Fire to cover the cost of buying the Primal Might needed.

I wonder if I could switch to Axesmith after that?

You can't.

You swap professions and you lose the item.  I'm saving for that myself.  Wouldn't be so bad if Might was 120 a pop.

Yeah.  My problem is that I never got the hang of gold farming... I was always behind the curve.  So I started BC with a grand total of 20g to my name.  I have made about 2000g since then, but spent the bulk of it on my flying mount, incidental upgrades to equipment along the way... and now I have about 600g.  The Primal Might will cost about 900g on Proudmoore.... I hope to cover half of that with selling other mights.

So I decided to sell all my reserves and spend a what I needed to to get as close to the mats as I could.  I am now 2 Hardened Admantite and 3 Primal Mights away.

So close I can taste it!

Well, I made the Breastplate of Kings today.  It was a bitter sweet moment as I now have a bitchin' breastplate, but I realized I have nothing left to spend money on until my fast flying mount... which is 4960g away.

Well, potions and repair... but nothing cool.

I suppose I could spend gold leveling Blacksmithing... but I don't really think I will ever be active enough in the raiding community to gather the required mats to upgrade to the Bulwark of Kings... much less the Bulwark of Ancient Kings.  And really that is the only use for Armorsmithing for me at this point for me.

I tossed it around and just got revered with Aldor.  I only needed like 4 fel arms and got the revered chestpiece instead.  In a month or so I will od the next couple pieces and make the actual good one.  Grats on that, it's pretty bitching with some nice gems.

Thanks, I went with the +12 Stamina in the blue socket and 2 +8 Crit in the Yellows.  I am pleased with the result.

This is why the armory is scariest.  Some dude mouthed off on the forums and people checked out his legendary spec.

He also has someone in his guild named, "Legelos".  The best was a mage who was talking smack and some people made it like a 10 page flame war on the fact that he had some insane arcane aoe build.  I believe he changed it at the end.

We actually had an arcane mage in our black morass group the other day.  He got booted when he started casting arcane missiles on the boss.
