My Father developed a chronic cough 3 years ago. He visited his doctor and then three specialists who did a myriad of tests and tried many, many different medications and treatments totalling over a $100,000. None of which worked at all.
About Five months ago he was talking to a friend and happened to mention it, The guy asked what medications he was on and when my father named his blood pressure medicine he told him to change it because in some cases it can cause chronic chest problems.

The cough instantly disappeared(literally within one day of changing the medication not one cough).

When my father asked where he had discovered this random piece of knowledge that had been so beneficial to him, my father's friend replied

So YAH! for the internet as superior to Doctors and pretty much everything else really.
