Have any of you had experiences similar to the changed histories described in JDatE? I have, and it's bugging the hell out of me.

Recently, we rented and watched "Good Night, and Good Luck" - a fabulous movie that every American should watch. My wife and I both looked at the actor playing Sig Mickelson, and thought - that's Dave Coulier, I thought he was dead? Of course, it wasn't, it was Jeff Daniels. However, in searching for Dave Coulier, we discovered that he is alive and well, and still making movies. Problem is, both of us clearly remember him committing suicide in the late 90's. We remember tributes to him from other actors he had worked with, and seeing his picture on the national news with the story.

We tried googling him with various modifiers like "suicide" or "dead" - and found two references, both from 2003. They were forum entries where people thought he had died in 2002, and it's explained away that the voice actor who he replaced on "The Real Ghostbusters", Lawrence Musick, had died of cancer. But this that's not what we both remember.

We remember Full House, then America's Funniest People - and then his suicide.

Are we the only people that remember this? What other changes have you, the readers of JDatE, noticed?

Yourself?

A couple of days ago, there was a guy on the UK quiz show "Who wants to be a millionaire?" who was convinced that the playwright Harold Pinter was dead.  This was unfortunate for him, because he had to answer the question "Who won the 2005 Nobel Prize for Literature?" (answer: Harold Pinter). He lost all of his money.

Of course he was thinking of the playwright Dennis Potter, who is dead.

Jeff Daniels is in Good Night and Good luck, not Dave Couiler.  They do look alike.

Ummm, I meant to say "You're thinking of Pat Morita."

Yea, I kinda had that one figured out...

As far as confusion goes, though, niether John Candy nor Chris Farley committed suicide, or worked on Full House. I guess we are the only ones who remember it... odd that.

I'm still unsure whether Ray Bradbury is alive or dead.

I thought he was dead, then my friend told me he was still alive, so I just assumed I was wrong.  However, when I mentioned to my brother that Bradbury was still alive, he assured me that he was dead.

So I really don't know.

I distinctly remember the movie Speed ending shortly after the bus blew up at the airport, and keanu reaves and sandra bullock kissed on the tarmac. So you can imagine my confusion when I rewatched it a few years back and there's an entire extra act involving a train and bad-guy decapitation. I thought it must have been a director's cut or something, but everyone assures me it isn't.

Also, a friend was just telling me about a drunken night out where they caught a cab home and squished four people along the back seat, but couldn't for the life of them remember who was in the front seat. It had just been that group of four the whole night, and they couldn't remember sharing the cab with any randoms. I was reminded instantly of Todd in JDATE.

The movie 'Infernal Affairs'. I have known of this movies existence for quite some time, since before 'The Departed' was announced and I have intended to see it for some time. I was in the rental shop today and I finally decided to get it out, so I take it to the counter with my other rentals and the girl says '...', '...', and 'Infernal Affairs', right? At this I pause because I thought I was getting the Hong Kong classic 'Internal Affairs', but she's holding the right box, so I decide it was just a slip of the tongue. I get home and to my surprise the DVD indeed reads Infernal, not Internal. The strange thing about this is that I've read many, many articles and internet posts that reference the film, mainly to do with 'The Departed', and every single time, I've read Internal. I've even discussed it with friends and relations, saying Internal every time, and I have never been corrected. I would understand if I'd just misread a few times, but consistently getting it wrong for two years seems truly inexplicable. Has anyone else experienced this?

P.S. I do know that there is another film called 'Internal Affairs', before anyone mentions it.

In The Empire Strikes Back when Luke is on the planet with Yoda, he goes into a cave where he has a vision about Darth Vader. When he first drops into that cave, there is a big lizard that is sitting there. But its only there half the time. And I don't mean that I'm watching two different versions, I mean the same video, when I watch that scene and see the lizard, when I rewind it isn't there. My family and friends think I'm insane because they always see it, even though for me it is sometimes simply is not there.

The Gnarls Barkley song Crazy.  Everyone I talk to says it sounds vaguely familiar.  I swear I've heard it millions of times on oldies stations.  Am I missing something?

Darren from bewitched used to be played by Dick York. I remember it so clearly...
But I saw some old reruns on TV the other day and he was being played by Dick Sargent!
