In case anyone cares...

David gave me permission to adapt JDATE into a movie, and I will be starting initial filming soon. I have very little money, so it might not be of the best quality...

But really. It's fucking JDATE!

And it's a movie!

The world is going crazy!

Any ways, I'm just sayin... starting initial filming...

Got no money....

Wanna send me money? I promise it will all got to making JDATE the best it can be and none of it will buy me a car...

I'm in Milpitas, CA, and we are filming in this are. If you live around here, you could PM me and we will try to fit you in. We already have people for John, Dave, Jennifer, Arnie, Shitload, Big Jim, Kelly Smallwood, Shelly, and Marcy. For anyone who cares, Milpitas is between San Jose and Fremont.

I admit, we are all highschoolers (or early college) but everyone who isn't a JDATE enthusiast is an acting enthusiast.

As for distribution, due to length it is being broken into two parts. When part one (which is the prologue and the Vegas incident) is finished, we are sending a copy to David to do with as he pleases. Also, each of our actors will get a copy if they so desire.

As part of being aloud to do this, we agreed not to make any money off of it, but hopefully, by the time part one is done, we will have a reliable DVD burner, and if you send us like, I don't know, a couple buck to cover cost, we will ship you a copy. You know, if Dave doesn't just post it.

And, hopefully by then, we will set up a pay-pal account to accept donations to help with production on part two. Cause even doing this shit dirt cheap, we are still poring all the funds we have into it. And it still looks like crap. Currently, we have a camcorder for filming. i hope to upgrade to something better soon.

Thanks

I don't say this often:

This is some hot shit. When you get a quick preview finished, what festivals and conventions are you going to show it at? I've heard that is a great way to get more funding...that is if your shit is good.

Holy crap, with all the 60+ year old genitalia torwards the end, this movie'll be a tentacle away from fetish porn.
Still, I'm interested to see how this'll turn out. Will you be hosting it in small file sizes for the low on bandwidth?

Yeah if you are using a camcorder you should write it into the script/p.o.v  i.e the blair witch project. However im guessing it's too late for such a major change. Get a real camera and good luck!

See here http://www.pointlesswasteoftime.com/smf/index.php?topic=17726.0 for the thread in Hollywood.  Seventeen pages of naysaying, with some unappealing underage not-cleavage thrown in for good measure.

I never really thought this should be made into a movie.  Even on a major Hollywood budget, the best parts would have to be edited out for time restraints.  My thought was something closer to an HBO miniseries.  A good 6-10 hours of quality screenplay lies in this masterpiece.  Here are my thoughts on the cast:
Note: It's currently vey late and I'm very drunk, so I don't remember a lot of character's names

Dave/Jennifer - completely unknown actors.
"Morgan Freeman" - Forest Whitaker (Species, Panic Room)
Arnie - Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix, The Sopranos)
Shitload - Seth Green (if you don't know who Seth Green is, you suck)
Marley - Doug E Doug (Operation: Dumbo Drop, Eight-Legged Freaks)
Paranormal Expert guy - Jeff Goldbloom (Jurassic Park, Independence Day)

I haven't thought of who the rest should be.  And of course there would be guest appearances by Fred Durst (is he even still alive?) and Steve-O.  Just my 2 cents.

You're obviously not thinking of Samuel L. Jackson. Plus, there's already a Pulp Fiction reference in the book.

My thoughts...
David - David Wong, of course. Assuming he can act.
Amy - Allison Hannigan
Robert North - Hugo Weaving
Albert Marconi - Dr. Phil, or Phil Donahue
Arnie Blondestone - Bob Hoskins (although I like Joey Pants too)
Dead Arnie - Morgan Freeman (just for continuity's sake)
Bob Marley - Harold Perrineau
Uncle Drake - Gerald McRaney

I am sad... a lot of the subtlety that makes JDATE awesome would be completely lost in movie version... it would be worse than when the harry potter books were turned into movies.  (Admitedly a lot of people liked those, but I can't stand them.)

Which is also not to say that I don't support this idea... I would actually probably donate if I had any money.

But still... you just can't movie-ize JDATE.  Not even if you had a full hollywood budget.

Ignoring the fact that it does some perceptual stuff that doesn't really translate well into visual terms.

Ha ha!  Like they were ever really going to make a movie!

I agree with John not being played by anyone at all.  Just them talking to thin air for 2 1/2 hours.  That would be awesome.

Dr. Phil can die. I was thinking Brian Cox for Marconi. Or maybe Alan Rickman. For Arnie I'd have said Max Baker, but Bob Hoskins is a cool idea. For some reason I always pictured Uncle Drake as John Goodman. Not even thinking of movie casting, he was just locked in my head as Drake. *shrug*
