A friend of mine posted this link on her facebook account, and it's one of those things you can't not share.

6-Year-Old Girl with Brain Cancer Hid Love Notes for Her Parents to Find After Her Death.

Would you consider me a cynical cow if I admit that I doubt the details of this story?

I sure they completely left out the part where the parents found at least a few of the notes hidden away (in the dishes?) before she died and never said anything about it till now. But even so, it's still pretty crazy. I can't really imagine confronting the idea of dying at the age of 6 and still being in good enough spirits to do what she did.

Who needs donuts when you've got love?

I, too, am highly skeptical of this story, however, at least the funds from the book they are selling are going to a cancer-fighting charity. That's a good thing whether it's true or not.

I was also skeptical at first - but sometimes you just gotta let it go. Who cares about the validity of it, as long as it brings them and others comfort. I am glad they donate the proceeds the research. Hopefully it'll make a difference.

I do think that it's pretty cynical to doubt the validity of this story just for the hell of it. I have a niece who's six years old and she's one of the most mature and interesting people that I've ever met.

Is it really hard to imagine that this girl liked to draw and write little messages and hide them around her house?

With the understanding that she's leaving them as messages of hope for her parents after she passes away? A little.

There probably are 6-year-old children out there who understand the concept of death in terms that the world will go on turning without them, and their parents will have to find a way to go on with their lives, but the odds of one of them also dying of brain cancer and being the most lovely and photogenic girl a camera can ever ask for... well, the odds are pretty low. Seriously, this is what fiction is literally made out of.

I think they're fudging the facts some, but if it's in the interest of funding brain cancer research for children I honestly don't see the harm.

I guess I can understand the skepticism, but nothing that I've read on their website really seems too far fetched to me.

She is an adorable kid, and they make her out to be a future nobel prize winner, but I'm sure most loving parents would probably do the same.

Let's not turn this into the Most-Horrible-Death-of-a-Child-You-Can-Possibly-Find thread, yeah? That'd be sweet.

To lighten the mood, you're still wrong. This is The Saddest Thing.

In response to 7obias, that is not sad, it is evil. People like that should be put down humanely, not executed, but put to sleep like animals.

But, the little girl who was obviously loved and loving hiding the little drawings is sad, because she won't be able to find them 15 years later and laugh with her parents at the childish innocence of the cards. I found something like this my sister did at that age today. My sister is a healthy 19 year old now. I am sad in a kind of happy way.

Thank you Logical Penguin.
